Pictures from the DRUID 1997 Summer Seminar

The three-day DRUID 1997 Summer Seminar (see the programme) was held at the Hotel Skagen, June 1st-3rd. The theme was 'competition and industrial dynamics'. The background was that there seems to be a growing gap between standard theoretical and empirical analysis which emphasises national market structure which by definition is rather stable and the policy related discourse which refers to rapid change and qualitative change in competition strategies at the internqational level. Another observation made at the earlier winter seminar was that evolutionary economists who have made major contributions to industrial dynamics analysis have not been successful in integrating competition in their models other than as rather general selection mechanisms.
